Tablet computers are popping up all over the place. As with any new electronic and technical product the companies are releasing several different versions and updating the technology. What was first thought of as just another entertainment device is now being used for many of the daily functions we do on our laptops. So, will the tablet eventually replace the laptop completely?
It really depends on who you ask. It is not completely unreasonable to picture the tablet computer as the new laptop. Since so many functions are now digital, a laptop is not necessarily needed anymore. Many people used laptops because they needed what they had on their desktops with them on the road. Laptops came with portable DVD players, and everything else you needed from a desktop PC. Now DVD’s are becoming obsolete, and tablets can have everything you need from a desktop.
In some cases laptops completely replaced the desktop computer, but on other cases many people have both. This may also be the case when it comes to laptops and tablets. There are many companies that are using tablets instead of laptops for their workforce in the field and in corporate offices, but it may take a while for other companies to join the game.
It is not unlikely that in the near future you will see workers heading to a meeting not with their blackberrys anymore, but with their tablets under their arms. This same tablet will be able to easily go home with them for later.
